“In a few days, we will invite the Civil Society Coalition to speak up and share their input with us. These contributions will be compiled into a comprehensive summary,” National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo said on Friday.
The input and suggestions are intended to help identify key issues and better reflect public hopes and expectations.
“We will also present the findings we’ve identified,” he added.
The reform team is open to evaluation and feedback from its counterpart formed by President Prabowo Subianto.
The National Police Chief previously stated that the reform team was established to evaluate the Police Force’s programs. It will consider input from the public and professionals, and take appropriate action based on those recommendations.
The Polri's Transformation and Reform Team was officially formed through a directive letter signed by the National Police Chief on September 17, 2025.
The team comprises 52 police officials.
The push for this reform comes amid growing public pressure for accountability and institutional overhaul, particularly following recent incidents and concerns over misconduct and unprofessional behavior.
The Presidential Police Reform Committee is the principal, high-level effort to overhaul the institution.
Established by President Prabowo Subianto, this committee is designed as an ad hoc body with a limited mandate, expected to work for about six months.
Its most critical feature is its external composition, involving public figures and experts from outside the police force, such as former Coordinating Minister Mahfud Md, as well as former National Police Chiefs.
The inclusion of external figures is meant to provide objective oversight and ensure the reforms address deep-seated issues like accountability, professionalism, and the institution's operational culture.
In parallel, the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, established the Internal Police Reform Transformation Team, consisting of 52 senior and mid-ranking police officers.
Its role is to prepare the groundwork for the larger presidential mandate.
