“RSON will support athlete rehabilitation, psychological care, and performance enhancement,” Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir said in a statement on Sunday.
Thohir, joined by Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono, inspected the RSON facility in Cibubur, East Jakarta, on Friday (Sept. 26).
The visit aimed to strengthen inter-ministerial cooperation in health services and athlete development.
The tour included fitness and physiotherapy rooms, rehabilitation clinics, radiology and MRI units, and surgery preparation areas. The facility also offers injury prevention, treatment, and physical conditioning services.

Thohir and his delegation also visited the orthopedics clinic, inpatient units, and the sport science center, ending at the Cibubur Youth Elite Sport Center (CYESC) swimming pool.
The minister emphasized that RSON’s location near the national training center helps support a seamless integration of health and sport science services for athletes.
“The two ministries will work together to ensure RSON becomes a vital part of Indonesia’s sports ecosystem,” Thohir said.
CYESC was initiated during the tenure of former minister Zainudin Amali (2019–2023), modeled after Japan’s Ajinomoto facility.
Construction accelerated under Minister Dito Ariotedjo (2023–2025), with Rp274 billion ($17.5 million) invested in infrastructure for 14 elite sports.
Despite progress, CYESC still lacks dormitories, sport science labs, and key support infrastructure.
Thohir, newly appointed for the 2025–2029 term, is coordinating with the Public Works Ministry to complete the facility, targeting full operation and integration with RSON by 2026.
