Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has directed the Presidential Secretariat Press Bureau to find a solution regarding the revocation of a press ID belonging to a CNN Indonesia journalist covering the Palace on Saturday.

The case involves journalist Diana Valencia, whose press ID card was revoked after she allegedly asked an out-of-context question during President Prabowo Subianto’s return from a state visit at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on September 27.

“We will seek the best solution. We told the Press Bureau to communicate and resolve this matter properly,” Prasetyo said after attending a meeting at the president’s residence on Sunday evening, September 28.

He confirmed that both he and the Press Bureau would establish communication with CNN Indonesia to address the issue. A meeting between the Press Bureau and CNN Indonesia is scheduled for Monday.

When asked if President Prabowo was aware of the matter, the minister responded that the president had been informed.

Separately, CNN Indonesia TV Editor-in-Chief Titin Rosmasari confirmed on Monday that Valencia’s Palace press ID card had been revoked.

She explained that the incident occurred on Saturday evening when an officer from the Press, Media, and Information Bureau (BPMI) of the Presidential Secretariat retrieved the ID card directly from the CNN Indonesia office.

Rosmasari said she was surprised by the action and questioned the basis for the revocation, which was carried out without an official explanation.

According to her, CNN Indonesia has sent a letter to BPMI and the Minister of State Secretary requesting clarification.

“We are questioning the reason for the revocation of the press ID,” Rosmasari said.

She stressed that Valencia’s questions to President Prabowo regarding the free nutritious meal (MBG) program were contextual and relevant to public interest.
