Once finalized, the draft will be submitted to the House of Representatives for joint deliberation.
“We will submit it as soon as possible, as it has already been included in the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas),” Agtas said during a press conference.
The draft is being prepared by an inter-ministerial committee comprising the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).
Upon completion, President Prabowo Subianto is expected to designate one of the participating ministries or agencies to represent the government in discussions with lawmakers.
When asked about a provision that would authorize the Indonesian Military (TNI) to investigate cyber-related crimes, Agtas declined to comment, stating that he would need to verify the matter.
Separately, BSSN Deputy for Economic Cyber and Crypto Security Slamet Aji Pamungkas said the bill is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
He emphasized that cybersecurity is a vital instrument for maintaining the integrity of the digital ecosystem.
