Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Deputy Public Works Minister Diana Kusumastuti said on Wednesday that the Garuda School in South Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi, represents a new opportunity for students in remote areas to pursue higher education, including at top global universities.

“The Garuda School is being prepared because we need excellent human resources to build this nation,” Kusumastuti said during a visit to Lebo Jaya Village, where the school is being developed.

The project is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s national priority to strengthen human capital under the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

Kusumastuti encouraged students across Southeast Sulawesi to continue dreaming big, saying the school will open pathways for those seeking quality education and global opportunities.

“I hope graduates from this school will one day be accepted into some of the world’s leading universities,” she said.

She also congratulated the Southeast Sulawesi provincial government for being chosen as one of the first locations for the school.

Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri said the Garuda School is one of President Prabowo’s flagship education programs aimed at improving access to quality education nationwide, especially in underserved regions.

“The goal is to ensure equal opportunities for all, particularly those in remote areas—not only to become skilled professionals but to realize their dreams of studying abroad,” she said.

She described the school as a bridge for young Indonesians to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future.

The Southeast Sulawesi government has allocated 20 hectares of land in Lebo Jaya Village, Konda Sub-district, South Konawe District, for the development of the school.

The Garuda School is among several new institutions being established to prepare a generation of Indonesians for global competitiveness through improved access to modern, character-based education.
