We will pursue them until the end of the year. What we can resolve quickly, we will,
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Finance Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to pursue and collect taxes not only from 200 major taxpayers but also from thousands of tax evaders across the country.

The ministry's expert staff for tax compliance, Yon Arsal, confirmed on Saturday that there are thousands of taxpayers who must be pursued, as their cases also affect many people.

Arsal explained that the 200 tax evaders mentioned earlier by Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa involve high-value and complex cases that require collaboration and a longer time for resolution.

Under tax regulations outlined in Law No. 7 of 2021 on Tax Regulation Harmonization and its implementing provisions, tax receivables are recorded only after the Tax Assessment Letter (SKP) has been approved by the taxpayer or has obtained permanent legal force once all legal processes have been completed.

Some taxpayers with unpaid taxes have long-standing cases due to various reasons, such as ongoing legal proceedings, bankruptcy, or tax receivables requiring further verification, he elaborated.

Arsal stressed that the ministry remains committed to pursuing tax collections from all taxpayers, including the 200 cases that have drawn significant public attention.

“We will pursue them until the end of the year. What we can resolve quickly, we will,” he said.

During the press conference on the September 2025 State Budget held on Monday, September 22, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the ministry would pursue 200 major taxpayers with finalized tax arrears, with potential recoveries capped at Rp60 trillion (around US$3.66 billion).

As of September 2025, 84 of the 200 finalized taxpayers have made payments totaling Rp5.1 trillion (around US$311 million).
