Vu Dhin Chu, 46, employed by PT Magellanic Garuda Kencana, departed Indonesia via Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport in Aceh Besar on Friday, flying to Kuala Lumpur on AirAsia flight AK 420, officials confirmed.
“Vu Dhin Chu has left the country and returned to Vietnam,” said Kharisma Subhan, acting head of immigration intelligence at the Meulaboh Class II Immigration Office, speaking on behalf of office head Jamaluddin.
Company director Tgk Miswar confirmed the worker’s departure, saying he required treatment in Vietnam for a fractured leg sustained during the incident.
The injury occurred after unknown individuals threw stones at a gold dredging vessel operated by the company in Gleng Village, Sungai Mas Subdistrict, on Saturday, October 4.
Vu was initially treated at Cut Nyak Dhien Regional Hospital in Meulaboh but chose to return to Vietnam for further care due to the severity of the injury.
Miswar said the company suspects the attack was premeditated and not carried out by local residents living near the licensed mining area.
“We have identified the individuals involved, and they are not from within our mining concession zone,” he said, adding that the company has gathered evidence but has not yet decided whether to pursue legal action.
“We're still evaluating the next steps,” Miswar said.
