Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The clove commodity from Lombok Utara District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, has successfully entered the market in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Head of the NTB Trade Office, Jamaluddin Malady, said the export achievement marks the revival of the region’s leading commodities.

“When local commodities like cloves break into the global market, it should inspire innovation and the development of other commodities,” said Malady, representing the NTB Governor during the export release event at Teluk Nara Terminal, Lombok Utara, in a statement received here on Sunday.

He emphasized that this momentum should be seen as part of efforts to encourage downstreaming and enhance the added value of local products.

The NTB Provincial Government, together with the Lombok Utara District Government, is committed to strengthening market networks, expanding access to financing, and facilitating smooth export activities to build a sustainable regional economy.

"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), during the recent business matching event in Gili Trawangan, transactions were made with buyers from India and the UK for 32 tons of cloves and 100 tons of cashew nuts, valued at Rp11.2 billion (US$673,940)," he added.

According to Malady, the success of the export not only marks the achievement of the region’s young exporters but also serves as concrete proof that regions in West Nusa Tenggara have great potential to contribute to both regional and national economic growth.

"The export release marks the beginning of a long journey to expand the market reach of West Nusa Tenggara’s leading products such as coffee, VCO, cocoa, spices, marine products, pearls, fish, shrimp, lobster, and other commodities to international markets," he said.
