The ministry has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and letters of intent (LOIs) with these five overseas partners, allowing Indonesian food products to enter their markets.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso said Indonesian cuisine has strong global potential due to its diverse flavors and high quality.
“This expansion proves Indonesian culinary products hold a solid position globally. We hope it brings a multiplier effect to the national economy,” Budi said in Jakarta.
Pangan Nusa is part of Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2025, held at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Banten. Budi called the expo a concrete step toward elevating small culinary businesses.
The exhibition features 186 ready-to-eat and packaged food products from across Indonesia, all curated for export readiness.
It also includes domestic business matchmaking between culinary entrepreneurs and major retail networks under HIPPINDO and Aprindo.
Participants further explored partnerships with state-linked companies such as PT KAI, KAI Services, Sarinah, and SMESCO (Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives).
The Ministry of Tourism added a cultural dimension to the event by offering culinary tourism experiences.
Visitors engaged in activities such as traditional market tours, cooking classes, local food tastings, and cultural showcases.
On its first day, Pangan Nusa recorded Rp800 million ($50,000) in transactions. Organizers expect this figure to increase through the event’s close on Sunday, October 19.
Highlighting Indonesia’s growing culinary footprint, Grand Hyatt Beijing hosted a two-week Indonesian food festival in July.
Dishes included gado-gado, rendang, gulai kapau, nasi goreng kampung, and ikan panggang Jimbaran, all prepared by Indonesian chefs.
Gado-gado is a traditional Indonesian salad made of boiled vegetables, tofu, and boiled eggs, served with a rich, creamy peanut sauce dressing. Rendang is a slow-cooked, spicy beef stew simmered in coconut milk and aromatic herbs until tender and flavorful.
Gulai Kapau is a Minangkabau-style curry featuring tender meat or offal cooked in a rich, spicy coconut milk sauce infused with local herbs. Nasi Goreng Kampung is a rustic fried rice dish seasoned with shallots, garlic, chili, and sweet soy sauce, often served with fried egg and anchovies.
Ikan Panggang Jimbaran is grilled fish marinated in traditional Balinese spices, cooked over charcoal and served with sambal, a spicy chili sauce.
