Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 521 students at the National University of the Republic of Indonesia (UKRI) in Jakarta on Saturday, Prabowo highlighted the growing international recognition of the MBG program.
"When we started, only around 77 countries had this kind of program. We were perhaps the 78th or 79th. Now, there are 112 countries, and most are following our model," he said.
He said the MBG program, launched in January, has drawn attention from global institutions focused on food security, poverty reduction, and health.
"A week ago, I received a delegation from the Rockefeller Institute, which has worked for 100 years in food, anti-hunger, and anti-poverty programs. They said Indonesia's initiative has gained worldwide attention," Prabowo noted.
MBG, one of the national priority programs under Prabowo's administration, integrates nutrition, education, and local economic empowerment. It not only improves students' health but also supports local farmers, fishers, and livestock producers.
Since its rollout, the program has distributed 1.4 billion meal portions to 36.2 million beneficiaries.
To support implementation, 10,681 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs), or MBG kitchens, have been established nationwide as of October 2025.
The program also aims to improve public awareness of healthy diets and encourage better eating habits. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN), which oversees the initiative, helps children recognize balanced food portions and diverse nutrient sources through daily school meals.
