Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto conveyed support for Brazil's leadership at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, in November 2025.

He would also send Hashim Djojohadikusumo, his younger brother, to lead the Indonesian delegation at the conference.

During a joint statement at the Merdeka Palace on Thursday, Prabowo also apologized directly to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for his absence from the high-level climate and environment meeting.

"I support Brazil in its leadership at COP30 with its initiatives. They established an investment fund to help conserve tropical forests, and Indonesia supports it. Brazil is the pioneer, and we commit to how much Brazil will invest, and Indonesia will invest in that fund," Prabowo said during his remarks.

He then promised to send a "strong delegation" to attend COP30 in Belém, which will take place from November 10–21, 2025.

At the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Thursday, following a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo and President Lula, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni informed that Prabowo would send Hashim Djojohadikusumo, as the President's Special Envoy for Energy and Climate Change, to lead the Indonesian delegation to COP30.

"I will also join the delegation along with Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq," Antoni said.

He then explained several agendas for the COP30 series, including Hashim, who will speak at the UNFCCC forum on November 6–7, 2025, and then attend the United for Wildlife Global Summit in Rio de Janeiro.

"(The event) is being organized by Prince William, the Prince of Wales. In addition, there will also be a business roundtable to follow up on Presidential Regulation 110 regarding the carbon market," he continued.

The Presidential Regulation referred to Presidential Regulation Number 110 of 2025 concerning the Implementation of the Carbon Economic Value Instrument (NEK) and National Greenhouse Gas Emission Control.

The Presidential Regulation was signed by President Prabowo on October 10, 2025, replacing the previous regulation, Presidential Regulation Number 98 of 2021.
