East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said in Surabaya on Saturday that the collaboration covers trade, industry, food security, agriculture, animal husbandry, employment, and the development of regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) as well as micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
She emphasized the importance of the partnership, noting that many of the leading sectors in both provinces complement each other. Parawansa expressed optimism that the synergy would help maximize the vast economic potential of East and Central Java.
The governor underscored the need for swift implementation of the agreements, citing examples such as milk and chopped tobacco supplies from East Java to Central Java, and the demand for brown and crystal sugar sourced from Central Java.
Parawansa added that East and Central Java share strong connectivity, emphasizing that their strategic elements are linked not only institutionally but also through common interests in advancing economic and regional development.
She further stressed that collaboration in education is equally vital to realizing Indonesia Emas 2045, highlighting the importance of strengthening human resources from an early stage.
Meanwhile, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi expressed his appreciation for the warm reception from the East Java Provincial Government.
He described the collaboration as a concrete step toward strengthening the regional economy and building inter-regional industrial networks.
At the end of the meeting, Luthfi invited Parawansa to make a return visit to Central Java to further deepen cooperation and foster stronger inter-regional ties.
“We hope the partnership between Central Java and East Java will not end here, but will continue to grow and deliver the best possible benefits for the people of both provinces,” he said.
