“By 2029 to 2030, all villages and sub-districts must have electricity. The next generation must have access to proper facilities to receive quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities,” he said on Wednesday.
According to Lahadalia, the national electrification ratio reached 99.83 percent in the first semester of 2025. The government continues to focus on the 3T regions, as many areas still lack access to electricity, he added.
In North Sulawesi Province, the electrification ratio stood at 99.40 percent by mid-2025, leaving 0.60 percent of households without power. Meanwhile, West Papua Province and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province recorded ratios of 89.80 percent and 89.22 percent, respectively.
The minister has instructed that the remaining electrification in North Sulawesi be completed by 2026.
“There are still around 11 or 12 villages in North Sulawesi without electricity. I want all of them connected by 2026. We cannot allow this to continue, especially in border areas,” he emphasized.
Lahadalia also inaugurated a strategic rural electrification project titled Merdeka dari Kegelapan (Freedom from Darkness), centered in Wolaang Village, Minahasa District, North Sulawesi.
“This initiative is vital because the state’s presence must guarantee equitable energy distribution, which is a key directive from the President under the Astacita vision,” he said during the inauguration ceremony.
The electrification program, one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priorities, includes several key activities such as the New Electricity Installation Assistance Program (BPBL) in Minahasa and the inauguration of the Wairara Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) with a capacity of 1 x 128 kilowatts in East Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
It is also followed by the inauguration of the Anggi Micro Hydro Power Plant Phase I (1 x 150 kilowatts) and the groundbreaking for Anggi Phase II (2 x 250 kilowatts) in the Arfak Mountains, West Papua.
