Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s creative economy as the sector continues to record positive growth.

“The development of Indonesia’s creative industry has been quite significant,” he said during the opening of IdeaFest 2025 in Jakarta on Friday.

He emphasized that as the sector becomes more dynamic, Indonesia needs to continue building a creative ecosystem that is strong, adaptive, collaborative, and innovation-driven to meet emerging challenges.

Harsya added that events like IdeaFest serve as key platforms for creative economy players to showcase competitive works, exchange ideas, and enhance the industry’s global competitiveness.

He noted that key performance indicators for the Creative Economy Ministry in the first half of 2025 showed a positive trend.

“As of early this year, employment in the creative industry reached around 26 to 26.5 million people, surpassing our target of 25.5 million,” he noted.

The minister reported that creative economy exports in the first half of 2025 reached 49 percent of the annual target, valued at US$12.89 billion out of the total target of US$26.44 billion.

Meanwhile, foreign and domestic investment in the sector stood at Rp90.12 trillion (approximately US$5.42 billion), or 66 percent of the total target of Rp136.3 trillion (around US$8.2 billion).

The sector’s contribution to the national GDP has also exceeded expectations, achieving 5.69 percent compared to the target of 5.54 percent.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy will continue to foster innovation and creativity in various forms to strengthen the sector’s role as a new engine of national economic growth,” he stated.

The annual IdeaFest creative festival is taking place from October 31 to November 2 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) in Senayan under the theme “Cultivate the Culture.”

The event emphasizes cross-disciplinary collaboration and cultural transformation, continuing its decade-long legacy as a catalyst for Indonesia’s creative economy ecosystem.
