“The incident began as a long-standing domestic conflict caused by financial problems. Both parties had undergone clarification and mediation,” Minister Fauzi said here on Friday.
She explained that the mediation was conducted by the Aceh Singkil District Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning (P3AP2KB), which resulted in an agreement to separate amicably.
She made the statement in response to viral reports on social media concerning a divorce case in Aceh Singkil following the husband’s appointment as a government employee under a work agreement (PPPK).
In response, the ministry has coordinated with the local office to verify reports claiming that the wife had been expelled from her home.
“The allegation of the wife’s expulsion is not true. The viral video (on social media) was recorded when the woman moved from a rented house to her parents’ residence in South Aceh,” Minister Fauzi clarified.
She commended the local office for providing mediation services and ensuring the woman’s safety.
However, she emphasized that similar cases must be addressed comprehensively, not only through legal means but also by considering psychological and social aspects.
“We encourage families to build equal and supportive relationships, free from violence. When conflicts arise, resolutions must prioritize dialogue, child protection, and respect for the rights and dignity of women,” Fauzi affirmed.
Previously, Fauzi pointed out the ministry's three priority programs for the 2024-2029 period, namely the development of the Indonesia Shared Space (RBI), the expansion of the Women and Child Protection Call Center (SAPA) 129, and the establishment of village-based gender, women, and child data integration.
