Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto said the cross-sector collaboration between the Surabaya Class I Special Immigration Office and the Sidoarjo City Police reflects the ministry’s contribution to advancing President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programs.
“The ministry continues to contribute to national food security through various initiatives across Indonesia, such as this activity in Sidoarjo involving local governments, the military, police, and local communities,” Andrianto said during the corn harvest event on Friday.
He stressed that food security is not solely the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Indonesian Military (TNI), or the National Police (Polri), but also of all ministries and families at the community level.
According to him, food resilience can begin within families by utilizing unused land around their homes to help strengthen Indonesia’s position as a self-sufficient nation.
In addition to cultivating rice and corn with various partners, the ministry is also working to optimize underutilized land across the country for livestock breeding, agriculture, shrimp farming, and eel cultivation.
“Although the impact may not be large, the ministry remains committed to supporting national food security and fostering a golden generation for the future,” he added.
During the event, Minister Andrianto symbolically distributed 500 basic food packages to residents of Bulang Village and handed over a harvesting machine, an agricultural sprayer, and 120 kilograms of hybrid corn seeds to local farmers.
The harvest resulted from a 10-hectare cultivation project that began on June 25, 2025.
The government’s food security program, designated as a national priority, is a comprehensive policy aimed at ensuring the availability, affordability, and quality of food for all citizens.
The initiative focuses on increasing agricultural production, strengthening logistics systems, and developing special programs such as “Free Nutritious Meals.”
The main goal of the program is to achieve national food self-sufficiency, improve the welfare of farmers and fishers, and support public health.
Priority food security programs include strengthening agricultural production, improving logistics networks, and expanding food reserves.
These efforts are implemented by promoting agricultural and fisheries productivity, allocating village funds to enhance local food security, and developing sustainable home-yard food programs to optimize household land use.
The government is also upgrading food storage and processing infrastructure, reinforcing the role of the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) in absorbing farmers’ produce, and strengthening the national food logistics system to ensure food stability and accessibility across the country.
