Nusantara City, East Kalimanta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs and the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) have reaffirmed their commitment to developing the Nusantara new capital city into a future city that is cyber-secure, sustainable, and inclusive.

“The success of a smart city is not only measured by technological progress but also by the quality of its people,” the ministry's Assistant Deputy for Prevention and Cybersecurity Capacity, Budi Eko Pratomo, said during a visit here on Saturday.

The establishment of Nusantara as the country's new government center boils down to the main problem of uneven national economic development, as it relies on Jakarta and Java Island as the sole centers of economic growth.

Nusantara is designed to be a new center of economy to create more inclusive and equitable development across all region.

Pratomo emphasized that human resources and local community participation are key in building a digital ecosystem for the capital’s development.

Human resources or local communities play a crucial role in the development process, he added, including in the implementation of the digital ecosystem.

Assistant Deputy for Telecommunications and Informatics, Agus Pandu Purnama, added that the ministry provides concrete support to realize Nusantara as a green and smart city.

The visit by the ministry's officials observed firsthand the ongoing progress of the city’s telecommunications and network infrastructure.

Meanwhile, OIKN's Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation, Agung Indrajit, said preparations for governance and smart city systems are underway, including integrating sensors across government buildings to support both pillars.

According to OIKN Secretary Bimo Adi Nursanthyasto, the ministry's support serves as a strategic cross-sector initiative aligned with Nusantara’s vision as Indonesia’s future center of government, while also sending a positive signal to investors about the strengthening of the city’s digital ecosystem.

OIKN is also implementing community empowerment programs to enhance local human resource capacity around the Nusantara area, he added.
