Jakarta (ANTARA) - Executive Committee (Exco) member of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), Vivin Cahyani Sungkono, has reaffirmed the federation’s full commitment to supporting the Indonesia U-23 national team as it prepares for the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand this December.

Vivin emphasized that PSSI’s current focus is on strengthening the preparations of the “Garuda Muda” squad ahead of the region’s biggest multi-sport event.

“At this moment, our focus and energy are fully dedicated to supporting the U-23 national team at the SEA Games,” Vivin said in an official statement on Monday.

She added that PSSI will extend its full backing to head coach Indra Sjafri and his coaching staff in their bid to achieve the best possible results at the tournament.

“We are giving our full support to Coach Indra Sjafri, his staff, and the players. We have full confidence in Coach Indra’s ability to deliver top results at this regional event,” Vivin said.

Indonesia’s U-23 team enters the 2025 SEA Games as defending champions, having won the gold medal at the 2023 edition.

The Garuda Muda remain one of the strong contenders to claim gold again in the biennial tournament, led by Indra Sjafri - the coach who guided Indonesia to its long-awaited SEA Games gold in 2023, ending a 32-year drought.

The 2025 SEA Games are scheduled to take place from December 9 to 20 in Bangkok, Thailand.
