“Yes, this November,” Santoso confirmed the targeted completion date on Tuesday.
The minister explained that ongoing talks on tariffs imposed by the US government on Indonesian products are being conducted prudently, taking into account Indonesia’s bargaining position.
He said the government is targeting a zero-percent tariff for Indonesian-made products that are not produced domestically by the United States.
Indonesia is scheduled to hold another round of discussions with US authorities next week, Santoso added.
Last October, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that reciprocal tariff negotiations with the United States had reached their final stage following approvals from both President Prabowo Subianto and President Donald Trump.
“We are finalizing the agreement with the US, as the principal agreement has been approved by President Prabowo and President Trump,” Hartarto said.
Hartarto explained that Indonesian products expected to receive zero tariffs include those not produced or cultivated in the United States. “It means that our palm oil and cocoa beans will get zero tariffs,” he said.
The legal drafting process for the tariff agreement is currently being finalized by both sides to ensure that all clauses comply with national regulations and international commitments, enabling effective implementation.
Hartarto expressed hope that the process would be completed soon.
Import tariffs on Indonesian products entering the US market have already been reduced to 19 percent from the previous 32 percent, following a high-level agreement reached through direct communication between President Prabowo and President Trump.
Indonesia is now seeking to further reduce tariffs on key national commodities, such as palm oil, to zero percent—mirroring the trade arrangement between the United States and Malaysia.
