“There are eight national priorities that we are directing toward (sustainability). Green jobs are important because we hope that all areas of research incorporate awareness of protecting our environment,” Director of Strategy and Transformative Learning Systems Ardi Findyartini said here on Tuesday.
During the opening press conference of the Science Film Festival 2025, she explained that the ministry’s research priorities include food, new energy sources, health and medicine, transportation, engineering, defense and security, maritime affairs, social and cultural independence, and other research areas.
Regarding this focus, she said green jobs align with national priorities. She encouraged students, researchers, and lecturers to integrate sustainability considerations and environmental preservation into their work.
Not only new jobs, she added, but all existing sectors can also contribute to environmental sustainability and become green jobs.
Therefore, she said that the ministry continues to encourage this through the current research and higher education climate.

She stressed the global importance of these initiatives, noting Indonesia’s role as part of the world’s lungs.
“We also hope that Indonesia, as part of the lungs of the world, will think about its significant role in developing expertise focused on green jobs. We do not label it specifically as green jobs, but across the eight national priorities, there are various aspects that can be integrated,” she explained.
As an initial step, the ministry is encouraging students’ interest in incorporating sustainable practices across multiple sectors.
“We hope teachers can create enjoyable science learning experiences, including topics related to environmental health, personal health, and the health of all components of our planet,” she said.
