Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar stated that the government is currently developing a plan to provide land to farmer groups categorized as poor, extremely poor, and vulnerable.

The plan was discussed during a limited meeting led by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday, focusing on community empowerment and poverty alleviation.

"We will promote the ownership of production tools by farmers through the distribution of land," Iskandar told the press after the meeting.

The discussion concerning land for poor and vulnerable farmers was one of the issues that received attention from President Prabowo during the limited cabinet meeting.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that the plan to distribute land aims to strengthen farmers' self-reliance.

"The government will continue striving to realize the strengthening of farmer self-reliance through the ownership of production tools and land," he said.

Wijaya mentioned that, during the same meeting, President Prabowo also emphasized the importance of utilizing all government-owned facilities to support the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Furthermore, the president instructed the imposition of limits on the import of second-hand goods, especially clothing, as this is believed to be detrimental to the community.

The meeting also discussed the provision of scholarships and training for high school and vocational high school graduates seeking to work abroad.

Apart from that, the President stressed the importance of accelerating digitalization for MSMEs, as well as enhancing MSME competitiveness through easier access to licensing and certification.

In addition to Minister Iskandar, several other ministers were also present at Tuesday's meeting, including Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, MSMEs Minister Maman Abdurrahman, and Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman.

To achieve food self-sufficiency in line with the Asta Cita missions of President Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian government continues to bolster food production in the country.

As part of the push, the government is also providing several forms of assistance to support farmers, including providing agricultural tools and machinery assistance with a budget of around Rp10 trillion (US$598 million) in 2025.
