West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan said the deployment is part of the “Sauyunan Jaga Lembur” movement, which aims to strengthen the preparedness of all regional elements in facing disaster risks.
“Based on forecasts from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), several potential disasters may occur in West Java. We are fully prepared as part of the response system, continuously training personnel and maintaining our equipment,” Setiawan said here on Thursday.
He emphasized that disaster mitigation in West Java cannot be handled by a single institution, but requires collaboration among government agencies and communities.
“Any challenges in West Java cannot be solved by one party alone. This is our shared responsibility, by all components of West Java,” he stated.
He also expressed appreciation to the Governor of West Java for his support and initiatives to strengthen public protection.
“I thank the Governor, not only for providing reinforcement but also for his ideas to protect the people of West Java,” he said.
Through the Sauyunan Jaga Lembur movement, the West Java Police calls on the public to enhance the spirit of mutual cooperation and solidarity in facing potential disasters.
“With stronger community collaboration, disaster preparedness can be carried out in an integrated and effective manner to ensure public safety,” he added.
Previously, BMKG on Tuesday (November 4) stated that Indonesia is currently entering a period of increasing rainfall, signaling the transition toward the peak of the rainy season.
Based on analysis over the past three months, rainfall has continued to rise significantly, with most regions falling into the medium to high category.
