Secretary of the Deputy for Systems and Governance at BGN, Ermia Sofiyessi, said in Batu City on Thursday that the capacity-building initiative aims to address various challenges in the field, ranging from human resource readiness to the operational efficiency of SPPG units.
She expressed hope that the effort would help ensure the continued and effective implementation of the MBG program throughout the province.
The program serves as a platform to deepen SPPG officers’ understanding of policies and technical mechanisms for implementing the MBG initiative.
BGN emphasized the importance of food safety, sanitation, hygiene, finance, and nutrition to ensure program management complies with operational standards.
Through the training, officers in 38 districts and cities across East Java are expected to manage SPPG units professionally, including processing raw materials into nutritious meal packages that meet safety and nutrition standards.
The program covers both existing and newly established SPPG units, with online sessions provided for those still in the preparation phase.
One participant, Nydia Safira, a nutritionist from the Tambakagung SPPG in Mojokerto District, said she gained valuable knowledge about operational procedures and monitoring mechanisms for daily MBG meal preparation.
She noted that the training helps minimize food safety risks, particularly since her unit serves around 3,300 students from 13 schools.
“This training is essential for us to carry out our duties properly and ensure that the program’s benefits are fully felt by the students,” she said.
