“All students will receive laptops. The total number is 16,000 units,” Yusuf said during a visit to the Taruna Heroes’ Cemetery in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday.
He explained that the laptops will be distributed not only to students but also to teachers to ensure optimal teaching and learning at Sekolah Rakyat schools.
The minister emphasized that Sekolah Rakyat aims to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty, expand access to education, and guarantee quality schooling for children from poor and extremely poor families.
The program also ensures that no child is left behind in education.
Yusuf added that teachers are receiving training in learning management systems and modules designed to improve both cost and time efficiency.
President Prabowo Subianto has previously underlined the importance of integrating technology into education, including within the Sekolah Rakyat program.
According to the president, the use of technology is essential to address the shortage of teachers in remote areas and to support the professional development of educators.
Sekolah Rakyat is one of the flagship programs of President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration, providing free, full-boarding education for children from extremely poor and vulnerable families.
Implemented under the coordination of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the program forms part of the Asta Cita missions and aligns with Presidential Instruction No. 8 of 2025 on the Optimization of Poverty Alleviation and Eradication of Extreme Poverty.
