Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Research, and Technology Stella Christie explained that the ministry vows to seek a sustainable solution for the beneficiaries, whose economic condition challenges their learning experience.
She made the statement during a visit to the residence of Susan, a Hasanuddin University KIPK scholarship awardee in Pettarani, Makassar, on Thursday. According to her, support like that is a form of long-term investment for Indonesian talents.
The deputy minister also encouraged students to explore their potential by taking part in academic and campus activities.
"During the course of university, so many opportunities can be used. Students must have keen eyes on seeing these opportunities, and push themselves to take part in it. Hasanuddin University provides ample space for growth and development," Christie said.
On the same occasion, the rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof Dr. Jamaluddin Jompa, reaffirmed the university's commitment to ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder students from accessing education.
"Of course, we have to help by seeking scholarships. No reason not to study at Hasanuddin University. We will always help," he said.
Jompa added that, in addition to scholarships, the university will continue expanding initiatives that support students' academic progress, including offering job opportunities to supplement their income.
During the visit, the deputy minister presented Susan with a laptop, while the rector gifted her an iPad to support her studies.
Susan expressed her gratitude for the assistance.
"I am very grateful and touched. This gives me huge encouragement to always study and never give up," she said.
