“FMI provides a space that brings together the nation’s talented individuals. The talents perform from the heart, and each performance always touches the heart. This is one of the 12 selected musical communities that enliven Indonesia’s musical stage,” Umar said in a press statement here on Sunday.
Indonesia’s creative economy has emerged as a key national growth driver, generating more than Rp1,500 trillion ($94 billion) in GDP and employing 26.47 million people in the year since October 2024.
The Creative Economy Ministry alone has set strategic priorities for 2026, focusing on investment expansion, export growth, and workforce development.
Umar highlighted Indonesia’s rich storytelling heritage, saying it provides strong material for artists to develop and present to international audiences. She added that Indonesian musical theater is supported not only by compelling narratives but also by capable talents and original compositions.
She observed that the performing arts subsector is increasingly seen by the public as an alternative form of entertainment that reflects audience emotions. She hoped collaboration among communities at FMI 2025 would strengthen the global presence of Indonesian musical theater.
She emphasized the importance of showing the world that Indonesian musicals are built on sincerity and love, and that FMI widens opportunities for artists and communities to deliver performances with broader appeal.
Producer Kevin Aldrian said Kapan Nikah Musical: Extended was inspired by a simple question that often carries social and personal pressure.
He hopes the show will offer new understanding, renewed hope, and strength, supported by new plot elements, extended songs, and updated arrangements.
