Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said the publication is expected to provide shared insights and strategic alignment for the nation’s tourism development over the next two years.
The ministry prepared the outlook in collaboration with the National Development Planning Ministry/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and Bank Indonesia to ensure data-based planning and cross-sector coordination.
The book offers a comprehensive assessment of domestic and global tourism trends, including market dynamics, policy challenges, and emerging opportunities for destination development.
It also examines the 2025 global tourism outlook, which remains overshadowed by economic slowdowns, geopolitical tensions, climate change, and accelerating technological transformation.
Widiyanti said the outlook is intended to guide policymakers and industry players in advancing high-quality, sustainable tourism practices aligned with Indonesia’s long-term development goals.
Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh Puspa noted that while the document is extensive, it leaves space for continued contributions to refine Indonesia’s tourism strategies.

“I believe we will exceed expectations. With strong optimism, Indonesia can lead the tourism sector,” she said.
To strengthen niche segments, the ministry has also released the Wonderful Indonesia Gourmet Book, designed to promote culinary and gastronomic tourism and attract visitors seeking authentic local cuisine.
The Wonderful Indonesia Outlook 2025/2026 Forum, held in conjunction with the launch, aimed to build shared understanding on quality and sustainable tourism as a driver of national economic growth.
The forum adopted the theme “Quality Sustains Future,” underscoring the importance of clear direction-setting to ensure Indonesia’s tourism sector remains competitive and resilient.
