"ESDM is focused on curbing mining. Many miners are mining without permits, without the Forest Area Utilization Permit (IPPKH)," Lahadalia said at the office of the ESDM Ministry in Jakarta on Monday.
He said that some licensed miners still lack an IPPKH, making their operations illegal despite holding a mining business permit (IUP), and causing forest areas to become pitted and severely damaged.
"All of them will be subject to sanctions in accordance with existing regulations. We don't want it to get worse, so we're controlling everything," he said.
Lahadalia stated that illegal mining without an IPPKH was one of the topics discussed at the limited meeting in Bogor.
The limited meeting, he continued, discussed the work results and follow-up plans of the Forest Area Regulation Task Force (PKH), the regulation of mining areas, and the legal consequences for various violations and illegal activities in both sectors.
Forest area regulation is divided into two focuses: forest areas related to plantations and forest areas related to mining.
"We discussed this thoroughly due to various field dynamics. I also went to the field regularly," Lahadalia said.
On Sunday (Nov 23), President Prabowo, in a limited meeting at his residence in Bogor District, focused the discussion on handling illegal areas that have been difficult for authorities to reach.
The President emphasized the need for integrated, cross-agency measures to ensure effective law enforcement in the vulnerable areas.
