Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot Tanjung reported that electricity supply in West Sumatra has begun to recover, while power in North Sumatra and Aceh remains disrupted following floods and landslides.

“In Aceh and North Sumatra, the power is still out. West Sumatra has started its recovery,” Tanjung said after attending a meeting at the Ministry's office here on Monday.

He added that the ministry continues coordinating to ensure energy availability, particularly electricity, in disaster-affected areas.

Meanwhile, ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said he will visit the three impacted provinces to inspect the condition directly, including checking damaged power towers and fuel distribution routes for fuel oil and LPG.

“Some of our towers have issues, which will be checked on-site tomorrow (Tuesday) to assess how the reconnection process will look like,” Lahadalia said.

Previously, hundreds of state electricity firm PLN personnel have worked to restore electricity after the extreme weather caused by Tropical Cyclone Senyar hit West Sumatra from November 21-28, 2025. The disaster disrupted the 20 kV Medium Voltage Network across several areas.

Out of 74 affected feeders in four service units (UP3), PLN West Sumatra Main Distribution Unit has successfully restored 38 feeders (52 percent), while 36 feeders (48 percent) remain out, including 20 feeders in UP3 Bukittinggi and 16 in UP3 Padang.

Restoration has been conducted in stages, considering mud, flooding, and difficult-to-access locations. Of all affected customers, 68 percent have regained electricity, while the rest are gradually being reconnected.

Among the impacted substations, 66 percent have returned operational after drying, equipment replacement, and thorough inspections.
