“The President emphasized that all disaster response measures must be carried out swiftly, accurately, and comprehensively,” Wijaya stated in a post on the Cabinet Secretariat’s official Instagram account on Monday.
Wijaya reported that President Prabowo departed from Jakarta Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base at around 6 a.m. on Monday, heading to Raja Sisingamangaraja XII Airport in North Tapanuli, North Sumatra. From there, he continued by Air Force Caracal helicopter to Central Tapanuli District.
Upon arrival in the affected area, the President proceeded to the Pandan Sports Hall (GOR Pandan), which has been designated as a central coordination hub for the disaster response. He also inspected public kitchens and the distribution of essential logistics for residents.
At the location, the President also reviewed the readiness of medical posts and evacuation shelters accommodating residents from several districts affected by the flooding.
President Prabowo said the government had formulated key measures for emergency response, including accelerating fuel distribution, restoring electricity networks, and reopening access to villages that remain cut off.
Wijaya added that the President ensured emergency actions have been carried out by relevant agencies and that aid had reached all affected areas.
The Head of State also expressed appreciation to all institutions involved, including the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) to the Ministry of Public Works and local governments, for their efforts in handling the disaster.
