Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said here, Monday, that the move reflects Indonesia’s active role in strengthening cooperation among Global South countries, continuing the spirit of the Asia-Africa Conference.
“Indonesia becomes a member and is immediately participating actively in the preparations of the NDB," Hartarto said.
Hartarto noted that NDB membership will expand market access and deepen collaboration with major developing economies.
At the same time, Indonesia is advancing its economic diplomacy by preparing to accede to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in 2026, alongside Mexico and Peru.
Progress is also being made toward joining the OECD, with 34 of 37 member states expressing support.
Following the conclusion of the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA in September 2025, Indonesia aims to become an official OECD member by 2027, Hartarto said.
