“We are providing assistance for school cleaning so the process can move faster and be handled by competent teams,” Mu’ti said in Padang on Thursday.
He added that the ministry continues to distribute emergency learning materials and support for teachers and students impacted by the disaster.
As of 4 December 2024, the ministry has delivered initial assistance to affected areas in West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh.
The support includes emergency operational funds amounting to Rp6.4 billion, compensation for deceased or hospitalized students and teachers worth Rp293 million, and the distribution of school kits, family kits, emergency school tents, three Starlink units, and children’s snack packages.
These education recovery efforts align with the government’s broader plan to initiate post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno said the recovery target for the affected regions is set for 100 days, supported by a one-year timeline to ensure transparent public monitoring.
“The rehabilitation and reconstruction phase is being prepared. The target is 100 days, with a one-year timeline so the public can monitor measurable progress,” Pratikno said.
The government emphasized that all ministries and agencies are working to ensure basic needs are met during the emergency response phase and that recovery efforts can progress as quickly as possible.
