Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Navy has deployed its hospital ship KRI dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat-992 (KRI RJW-992) to provide free medical services for flood survivors in North Sumatra, the country’s Fleet Command chief said on Saturday.

Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Denih Hendrata told ANTARA that the ship’s presence in Sibolga reflects the Navy’s commitment to accelerating emergency response efforts for affected communities.

Among those treated was Roy Alfi Wahyudi Nasution, 23, a resident of Santeong in Sibolga, who suffered a fractured right thigh during the disaster. Denih said Roy received immediate care from the ship’s medical team.

Doctors performed an Open Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF) procedure to stabilize the fracture using a metal plate—part of the ship’s rapid-response capability for post-disaster trauma cases, he added.

Denih said the patient is now in stable condition. He also affirmed that naval assets, including the hospital ship and logistics vessels, will remain deployed to support ongoing recovery efforts across Sumatra.
