Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment has awarded 20 kitchens operating under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program for empowering communities through collaboration with farmers, cooperatives, village-owned enterprises, and small businesses.

At the 2025 Inspiradaya Awards Ceremony in Jakarta on Tuesday, Coordinating Minister Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar said the awards reflect the government’s recognition of the kitchens’ success in fostering strong new economic ecosystems.

“These MBG kitchens have contributed to bolstering the productivity of communities by involving and empowering local residents in supplying the goods they need for operation,” he remarked.

He expressed hope that the awarding of the selected kitchens, officially known as nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPGs), will inspire other SPPGs to strengthen their regions’ economic and social environments.

“Our aim is to encourage all SPPGs across the country to help local communities enhance their productivity,” Iskandar said.

He noted that the 20 chosen kitchens qualified for the awards from 110 registered SPPGs across 82 districts and cities in 30 provinces.

The awardees consist of six MBG kitchens from Java Island, four from Sumatra, two from Kalimantan, two from Sulawesi, two from Bali and Nusa Tenggara, two from Papua, and two from Maluku.

Iskandar highlighted that beyond receiving the award, the 20 winning SPPGs will obtain assistance and guidance from the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment as their main reward.

President Prabowo Subianto introduced the MBG program as one of his key initiatives to advance Indonesia toward its golden era by 2045 through improving human resources, stimulating local economies, and strengthening food security.

Since its launch on January 6, the program has served around 49 million schoolchildren, breastfeeding mothers, pregnant women, and toddlers, with support from more than 15,300 SPPGs. By March 2026, the number of recipients is projected to reach 82.9 million.
