Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno said the assessment is part of the housing relocation process, which is moving in parallel with the construction of temporary housing.
"Temporary housing is already underway, and some areas have entered the preparation stage for permanent housing. The Minister of Housing reported that preparations are ready, and we have agreed to conduct an assessment of the relocation sites," he stated on Wednesday.
In addition, the government is pushing to restore basic infrastructure, particularly land access, which is not yet fully functional.
"We are mobilizing our resources, including 1,000 units of heavy equipment and dozens of emergency bridges as directed by the President. In areas with power outages, we are also providing generators," Pratikno detailed.
He emphasized that post-disaster recovery in the three provinces is a national priority, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto. All ministries and institutions have been tasked with working synergistically across sectors to accelerate recovery.
The minister noted that the government has adequate funding to fully support disaster management. He added that despite varying levels of damage and regional isolation, recovery efforts are showing promising progress. According to Pratikno, isolated areas have been reopened through the collaboration of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the military, the National Police, the Ministry of Public Works, and other relevant institutions.
The government also continues to ensure the availability of logistics, fuel, and LPG, as well as the restoration of electricity and health services.
Previously, the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait, stated that the government would build 2,603 houses for victims in the three provinces. The construction of permanent housing is slated to begin this month, prioritizing caution and regulatory compliance without hindering the speed of aid.
The construction of these 2,603 houses relies on non-state budget funding, primarily supported by the Tzu Chi Foundation with 2,500 units and 103 units funded by Sirait’s personal funds.
