The deputy minister highlighted that food self-sufficiency is currently a major focus for the government, covering all food sectors, from food crops to livestock.
“Cattle farmer associations, as the government’s strategic partners, play a key role in supporting national food self-sufficiency,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
Speaking at the national working meeting of the Indonesian Cattle Breeders and Fatteners Association (APPSI) in Bogor, West Java, on Saturday, he underlined that the government’s presence at farmers’ forums aims to strengthen coordination.
He noted that associations serve as a bridge between the government and cattle farmers to ensure that policies are implemented more effectively.
Sudaryono believes that the presence of cattle associations is beneficial, particularly in supporting food security policies under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
Through these associations, farmers’ aspirations can be better communicated, while also making it easier for the government to provide guidance and ensure cross-sector coordination.
On that occasion, he also emphasized that APPSI members are long-standing players in the livestock sector who have remained active and have received government guidance. The presence of APPSI is believed to help streamline coordination between the government and cattle farmers.
The 2025 APPSI working meeting raised the theme “Boosting Productivity and Farmer Welfare Toward Food Security and Cattle Self-Sufficiency in Indonesia,” providing space for dialogue between the government and the association to discuss issues and solutions in cattle farming.
The Ministry of Agriculture has reaffirmed its commitment to continuously building coordination with farmer associations, in line with the national food self-sufficiency agenda, which requires strong synergy between the government and business players.
