At the meeting held at the Ministry office here on Tuesday, Aryani said that IM Japan had expressed interest in cooperating with the Ministry in the direct placement of Indonesian workers in Japan.
Aryani emphasized that any form of cooperation must provide added value for the interests of Indonesian migrant workers, particularly in terms of protection.
Potential sectors to be opened under the cooperation include 13 fields within the Specified Skilled Worker scheme, such as hospitality, aviation, the food industry, building cleaning, industrial machinery, construction, and food processing.
“If we cooperate, there must certainly be clear added value for the interests of Indonesian migrant workers. One of them is the protection aspect,” she said.
Aryani stressed the importance of comprehensive service and protection guarantees for Indonesian migrant workers in the SSW scheme.
She also asked IM Japan to ensure the handling of Indonesian migrant workers from the moment they arrive in Japan, including pickup, assistance, and the availability of officers ready to provide swift support in case problems arise. Such handling includes mediation with employers and the resolution of other cases.
In addition to protection, Aryani highlighted the need for clarity on placement financing.
All costs related to the placement process must be transparent from the start, including the cost responsibilities between migrant workers and employers.
“With this cooperation, the scheme we are promoting is government to private, or G to P, where on the Indonesian side it is carried out by the Ministry and on the Japanese side by IM Japan,” she said.
