Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang said Indonesia regretted the incident, which took place on December 15 and was widely circulated on social media.
“The Indonesian Embassy in London has filed a formal complaint to the British authorities, including the Foreign Office and local police, requesting follow-up actions in accordance with prevailing laws and procedures,” she stated on Wednesday.
Mewengkang stressed that the Red-and-White Flag is a symbol of Indonesia’s sovereignty and honor that must be respected everywhere.
She added that freedom of expression cannot be used to justify actions that insult national symbols or undermine mutual respect in international relations.
The spokesperson also urged the public not to be provoked by social media content that could stir discord.
The actress, known professionally as Bonnie Blue, had already been deported from Indonesia earlier this month and handed a 10-year entry ban following legal violations.
The case followed public concern over her activities in Bali, where she and several foreign nationals were accused of disturbing public order.
On December 4, police in Badung arrested the group at a studio in Pererenan on suspicion of producing pornographic content.
While investigators found no evidence of pornography law violations, Blue was prosecuted for traffic offenses.
On December 12, the Denpasar District Court found her guilty of violating traffic regulations.
Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman explained that although the pornography allegations were unproven, Blue and her colleagues had entered Indonesia on visitor visas but used them to produce commercial content.
“Therefore, we are imposing a 10-year ban because these activities are inconsistent with the government’s efforts to maintain Bali’s quality tourism image and respect local cultural values,” Yusman said on December 22.
