"The government continues to expedite the handling and recovery of disaster-affected areas in Aceh Province, especially as affected communities approach the holy month of Ramadan," Pratikno said here on Thursday.
Pratikno made the statement after attending a disaster management meeting at the Aceh Governor's Office. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor of Aceh, Fadhlullah, and the Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Suharyanto.
The meeting was also attended by the Aceh Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), Heads of Aceh Government Work Units, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and civil society organizations.
Pratikno stated that during the meeting, he received numerous suggestions regarding disaster management in Aceh. According to reports, disaster management has made remarkable progress.
"This is all thanks to the hard work of all involved. We appreciate and thank the local government, the army, the police, civil society organizations, and all those who helped manage the disaster," he said.
Pratikno encouraged the construction of temporary housing so that disaster victims could have decent housing while waiting for permanent housing.
"Construction of temporary housing has begun. In addition, other basic needs also need to be prepared as Ramadan approaches, including the restoration of mosques and prayer rooms for community worship," he said.
Pratikno said he would convey information related to disaster management to relevant ministries and agencies, as well as coordinate across ministries and agencies to help expedite recovery in disaster-affected areas.
"We continue to monitor and coordinate the handling and recovery of disaster-affected areas with every relevant ministry and agency," said Pratikno.
