Bogor, West Java (ANTARA) - Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto has called on all relevant parties to enhance adherence to the procedure in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.

This was conveyed by the president during a cabinet retreat in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday, according to State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi.

He stated that based on the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) records, there were still approximately 15 reported incidents during the MBG program's implementation in December 2025.

To this end, he said, President Prabowo wants to ensure such incidents are prevented maximally going forward.

Regarding the budget, he affirmed that the program faces no financial issues, as approximately Rp335 trillion (around US$19.9 billion) has been allocated in the 2026 State Budget for the initiative.

Hadi further said that, overall, the program has not encountered any major obstacles from either technical implementation or budgetary conditions.

"In terms of both technical execution and funding, there are no issues," he stressed.

President Prabowo has reaffirmed the Indonesian government's commitment to implementing a "zero defect" standard and ensuring the equal distribution of benefits for the MBG program starting in 2026.

In Tuesday's briefing, the president underlined that MBG is a strategic step to intervene in urgent nutritional issues.

While claiming a statistical success rate of 99.99 percent, he acknowledged that there were still shortcomings or irregularities in the field.

Prabowo stated that oversight and security measures will continue to be tightened to ensure perfect distribution.

The free meals program was launched on January 6, 2025, as one of the flagship programs of President Prabowo, aimed at improving the nutritional status of children under five, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and schoolchildren up to the high school level.

With a target of reaching 82.9 million beneficiaries across Indonesia, the program is one of the largest programs implemented in the country.

After one year of implementation, the number of beneficiaries has reached 55 million.
