"Minister Sjamsoeddin conducted a series of defense diplomacy activities in Islamabad, Pakistan, beginning with a courtesy call with Pakistani Minister of Defense Production, Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj, at the Ministry of Defense Production," Head of the Ministry's Defense Information Bureau, Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, informed on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed strengthening defense cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan, which is based on the 2010 Agreement on Cooperation Activities in the Field of Defense.
Defense cooperation to be established between the two countries includes cooperation in military education and training, development of defense human resources, and strengthening bilateral cooperation mechanisms through the Joint Defense Cooperation Committee (JDCC), Sirait continued.
Afterwards, Sjamsoeddin continued his visit to meet Pakistan's Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at his camp office, where he expressed his appreciation for the strong cooperative relationship between the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) and the Pakistani Armed Forces.
"Both parties agreed that defense cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan plays a vital role in supporting regional stability and bringing a positive contribution to international peace and security," Sirait outlined.
Furthermore, Sjamsoeddin also paid a visit to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air Headquarters to meet with Pakistan Air Force Chief of Staff Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu.
During the meeting, they discussed efforts to strengthen relations between the Indonesian Air Force and the Pakistan Air Force, particularly in the areas of education, training, and the exchange of professional experiences between Air Force personnel.
Sirait said that Sjamsoeddin's state visit would further strengthen and enhance the effectiveness of bilateral and military ties between Indonesia and Pakistan.
