This was conveyed by the ministry's secretary, Rosa Vivien Ratnawati, in response to President Prabowo Subianto's decision to revoke the permits of 28 companies that violated forest land-use regulations in areas affected by the floods and landslides in late November 2025.
"This is to assess a region's environmental carrying capacity. If environmental approvals are to be reissued in that area, we will check the KLHS," she said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
She explained that the KLHS will reveal the current condition of the environment, identify the damaged areas, and determine the necessary recovery measures if, for instance, a company is proven to have caused environmental degradation.
According to her, the floods and landslides that hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra are proof that the 28 companies, whose permits have been revoked, have damaged the environment.
The government's step is deemed appropriate to create a more environmentally conscious corporate ecosystem in Indonesia.
"This is one of the government's actions to restore the local environment. One of the steps is revoking their permits, and the Ministry of Environment supports the revocation of the environmental approvals," Ratnawati said.
President Prabowo Subianto has revoked the permits of 28 companies proven to have committed forest land-use violations.
This was announced by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi in a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.
According to him, the decision was made during a limited meeting held online earlier on Monday, where the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force reported the results of investigations and audits against companies suspected of committing violations, specifically in the disaster-affected areas.
Out of the 28 companies, 22 were holders of Forest Utilization Business Permits (PBPH) for both natural and plantation forests with a total area of 1,010,592 hectares. The other six companies operate in the mining, plantation, and timber forest product utilization sectors.
