Bandung (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) ensures the protection and fulfillment of the rights of women and children affected by the landslide in Cisarua Sub-District, West Bandung District.

During her visit to Bandung on Sunday, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi emphasized the government guarantees protection for all refugees, especially vulnerable groups such as women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and pregnant or breastfeeding women.

“We ensure that everyone in the evacuation centers feels safe, especially women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding,” she said.

Fauzi stated that field assessments revealed many victims were experiencing deep trauma as a result of the landslide disaster.

She added that survivors’ responses indicated a significant impact on their psychological well-being.

“They appear to have experienced profound trauma. The way they react shows that this disaster has seriously affected their psychological condition,” she said.

On the same occasion, the ministry said it was coordinating with local governments and related stakeholders to provide psychological recovery services, including trauma healing, for disaster victims—especially women and children.

“Therefore, we will coordinate efforts to provide trauma healing services to help restore their mental condition,” she added.

In addition to psychological support, the ministry is encouraging the fulfillment of basic needs and continued protection for women and children in evacuation centers so they can recover and return to their lives safely and with dignity.
