According to the official website of the 2025 ASEAN Para Games, accessed on Monday, Indonesia collected the medals across 18 sports contested from January 19 to 25.
Before departing for the games in Thailand, Indonesia had set a target of finishing at least in the top three of the final medal standings at Southeast Asia’s largest multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities.
The target was considered achievable as several of Indonesia’s key sports were not contested, while participation from several countries, including Cambodia, was reduced.
The Indonesian contingent, led by Chef de Mission (CdM) Reda Manthovani, had been assigned an initial medal target of 82 gold, 77 silver, and 77 bronze medals by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
However, Indonesia exceeded the target by a wide margin following consistent performances by its athletes throughout the week-long competition.
Indonesia posted dominant results in several sports that contributed significantly to the overall medal tally.
Para athletics emerged as the biggest contributor, delivering 44 gold, 39 silver, and 23 bronze medals. Para swimming followed with 29 gold, 37 silver, and 20 bronze medals.
Para badminton also exceeded its target, collecting 12 gold, nine silver, and seven bronze medals, while para powerlifting added nine gold and four silver medals.
Para judo stood out as the only discipline in which Indonesia claimed medals in all events it entered, securing seven gold, three silver, and one bronze medal.
Indonesia added to its medal haul on the final day of competition through the para chess events.
