UI official Erwin Agustian Panigoro said the program was designed to provide Zhejiang University students with an integrated learning experience, combining academic activities, industry visits, and cultural exploration in Jakarta and Bandung.
Held over one week, from January 19 to 23, 2026, the exchange formed part of UI’s broader internationalization efforts, according to a press statement released in Depok, West Java, on Saturday.
During the program, participants attended lectures on Indonesia’s economy, public administration, and leadership amid global uncertainty, offering insights into policy challenges in Southeast Asia’s largest economy.
The academic agenda also included a visit to PT Wanxinda Group Indonesia, where students gained firsthand exposure to cross-border business practices and the dynamics of global economic cooperation.
Students visited Deakin University Lancaster University Indonesia, attending a leadership lecture by Professor Greg Barton, which broadened their understanding of international higher education models.
Beyond academics, the program emphasized cultural understanding as a key component in shaping global perspectives.
Participants explored cultural and historical landmarks such as Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, the Asian-African Conference Museum, Gedung Sate, and Saung Angklung Mang Udjo.
These activities introduced Indonesia’s history, national values, and cultural diversity while fostering cross-cultural dialogue and mutual respect.
The program concluded with reflection sessions and group presentations, allowing students to consolidate experiences, highlight learning outcomes, and share new perspectives.
Through these sessions, participants examined the links between theory, practice, and social context, reinforcing applied learning approaches.
Hu Xuanhao, a student from Zhejiang University, described the program as memorable both academically and personally.
“Through campus life and shared activities, I not only learned about Indonesia but also built sincere friendships,” Hu said, noting that direct interaction with UI students offered a more authentic perspective than classroom learning alone.
UI stated that the program is expected to serve as a foundation for deeper academic cooperation with Zhejiang University and help nurture globally minded young leaders capable of collaborating across cultures.
