Jakarta (ANTARA) - State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said President Prabowo Subianto's recent meetings with several public figures were not held with opposition figures, but with national figures to exchange views on government programs and state interests.

He said the meetings reflected the president's communication approach, which combines open and closed discussions aimed at gathering input, exchanging views, and providing explanations on policies being implemented.

"This is how the President has communicated so far. Some discussions are open, others are closed, but all are intended to exchange views, receive input, and explain government programs," Prasetyo said on Monday.

He stressed that the figures invited to the meetings were chosen for their expertise and concern in specific fields, rather than for political affiliation.

"Not opposition figures. Instead, he met with national figures who have concerns in their respective fields," he said.

According to Prasetyo, such consultations are a positive practice in government administration, as they allow the leadership to absorb perspectives from outside formal political structures.

He said the figures who met the president came from diverse backgrounds and were not affiliated with political parties.

"They included an election expert, Prof. Siti Zuhro, an anti-corruption figure and former Corruption Eradication Commission chairman Abraham Samad, and a policing figure, former Criminal Investigation Agency head Susno (Duadji)," he said.

Prasetyo added that the president plans to continue holding similar meetings with other national figures.

President Prabowo previously met several public figures, including Abraham Samad, during a five-hour meeting at his private residence on Kertanegara IV Street on January 30.

News of the meeting was disclosed by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin on Saturday, who said the head of state met with several national figures whom he described as being considered by some as opposition figures to discuss state interests.
