He noted that pressure on efforts to eradicate online gambling has been particularly intense for PPATK, especially amid the rapid development of financial technology.
“If it were not for the firmness of our President, Prabowo Subianto, we would not have been able to make history by reducing online gambling,” Yustiavandana said during a meeting with House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission III at the parliament complex on Tuesday.
With advances in financial technology, cryptocurrencies, and other financial innovations, he estimated that the potential value of online gambling transactions could have reached Rp1,100 trillion.
However, following cross-institutional coordination, including with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, online gambling transactions have now been reduced to Rp268 trillion, he said.
Yustiavandana added that online gambling transactions continued to increase between 2017 and 2020, although he did not provide detailed figures for each year.
“That has saved many of our people,” he said.
PPATK also reported an increase in the number of suspected financial crime reports in 2025 compared to the previous year.
Yustiavandana said PPATK received 43 million reports from reporting entities in 2025, marking a 22.5 percent increase from 35.6 million reports recorded in 2024.
Meanwhile, Commission III member Mangihut Sinaga urged PPATK to strengthen coordination to ensure effective follow-up enforcement in efforts to curb online gambling transactions.
Commission III assessed that PPATK has provided substantial data and information to law enforcement agencies, but many cases have yet to be acted upon.
“Going forward, improvements are needed in analyzing financial transactions to ensure fair legal processes and tangible benefits for the public,” Sinaga said.
