The cooperation was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) and the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) in Jakarta on Wednesday (Feb. 4).
In a statement cited on Thursday, BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan noted that the MoU signing marks a strategic step for both countries in strengthening the global halal network, which he believes will advance Indonesia's determination to become the world’s halal reference.
"This cooperation goes beyond the mere recognition of halal certificates; it also serves as a means to foster an interconnected global halal system based on mutual trust, delivering benefits to business actors in both countries," he said.
Hasan expressed hope that the synergy between the two governments will expand the market reach of national halal products and strengthen halal standards and assurance at the international level.
He further elaborated that the BPJPH and JSMO share aligned visions to enhance technology, conduct joint training and skill transfers, develop facilities and infrastructure, and facilitate research and development programs.
"The two parties have also agreed to mutually recognize and accept each other’s halal certification and to coordinate standards and technical regulations," he added.
Beyond international engagement, Hasan reported that the agency had also partnered with Tadulako University in Central Sulawesi as part of efforts to strengthen the national halal ecosystem.
He explained that the cooperation covers educational programs, collaborative research, community service activities, capacity-building initiatives, and the development of halal assurance subjects for undergraduate and graduate levels.
"This collaboration is intended to improve the quality of national human resources, with the ultimate goal of continuously advancing Indonesia's halal ecosystem," he said.
