Jakarta (ANTARA) - Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has expressed support for the Board of Peace (BoP), an initiative launched by US President Donald Trump, saying it would make a meaningful contribution to strengthening global peace and stability.

“Kazakhstan is confident that the Board of Peace will make a meaningful contribution to strengthening global peace and stability,” Tokayev said during his official statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

Tokayev said the Board of Peace was a timely and relevant initiative aimed at producing swift and effective results, adding that it was intended to complement rather than replace the work of the United Nations, as Trump underscored during the board’s signing ceremony.

“The plan appeared to be well-structured, ambitious, yet realistic. Without genuine political will to move forward towards a two-state solution, no plan can be truly sustainable,” he added.

Tokayev also described Trump as a strong and forward-looking leader who prioritizes his country’s national interests.

“Kazakhstan is a strong supporter of President Trump’s emphasis on common-sense policies and the restoration of law and order,” he said.

Commenting on Kazakhstan’s decision to join the Trump-initiated Abraham Accords, Tokayev said the move would help create a solid foundation for attracting investment, advanced technologies and tangible economic benefits.

By joining the framework, Kazakhstan reaffirmed its belief in diplomacy as the most effective means of resolving differences, he stated.

“Kazakhstan maintains excellent relations with Israel, while at the same time consistently supporting the Palestinian people and advocating a two-state solution,” he added.

Trump announced the establishment of the Board of Peace on January 15 as part of his broader plan for Gaza, under which a ceasefire agreement was reached on October 10, 2025.
