In a video broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta, Prabowo affirmed that the government is strongly determined to revive national industries during the remaining years of his tenure.
“We are determined to increase job opportunities for the Indonesian people. The government will spearhead the nation’s industrialization over the next two to three years,” he said in Malang, East Java, on Sunday.
Speaking before more than 1,000 attendees at the centenary celebration of one of Indonesia’s major Islamic organizations, Nahdlatul Ulama, Prabowo stressed his belief that upgrading the industrial sector is essential for Indonesia’s transformation into a developed country.
The president asserted that industrialization would not only drive stronger economic growth but also lay the foundation for more equitable welfare and further reductions in unemployment.
Complementing the industrialization drive, he said, are the government’s plans to construct millions of affordable and decent housing units for residents in need of improved living conditions.
“We will build millions of homes for all citizens in need,” Prabowo said.
He added that the government has decided to ensure that industrialization and growth in the housing sector proceed in tandem under a broader national strategy aimed not only at job creation but also at strengthening people’s purchasing power and promoting inclusive economic growth.
The president assured the public that all these measures are directed toward fostering an advanced, self-reliant, and prosperous Indonesia, where people from all walks of life can reap tangible benefits from national development.
